Bridges
“Rather than focusing on the obstacle in your path, focus on the bridge over the obstacle.”
-Mary Lou Retton
Growing up in San Francisco, I was always drawn to the brides surrounding the city. Not only were they “world famous” structures, they also had a lot of meaning. One bridge connected you to wealth and wine, and another bridge connected you to stereotypically eyebrow raising neighborhoods of the Bay. Of course, the viewpoint is different now as an adult, but the idea that these bridges connect 3 completely different cities and areas still hold interest.
Fast forward, and now I live around “The city of bridges”: Portland, OR, where there are 12 bridges that connect you from the Westside of Portland over to the Eastside. The way each bridge looks are different too, which is why they deserve their own category.
